All the CONSERVATIVE candidates in the race will agree on “the state issues”. Putting a STOP TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION at our borders, PROTECTING OUR WATER RIGHTS, pushing back on the wasteful spending at the tax hungry Capitol, BUILD SITES RESERVOIR, oppose government waste and OPPOSE the HIGH SPEED RAIL DISASTER, and push back on higher gas taxes, inflation and energy costs. These are all our priorities at the state level and they make sense.
But NorCal is in CRISIS. High cancer rates, failing education, rampant drug and opiod abuse, failing roads, highways which are two-lane death traps, and fires which burn our homes and kill our friends and family.
Real representatives realize that the job is bigger than opposing legislation. Real representatives understand our community is in crisis. Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Yuba and Sutter Counties need real representation. We must have a representative who will fight to bring money and resources to our area. Someone who understands how to build a coalition with those facing the same issues and get things done.
FIX PUBLIC SAFETY in NorCal
Tragically our cities and counties are forced to raise sales taxes just to pay for essential services.
FIX HEALTHCARE in NorCal
Doctors are in short supply and are leaving NorCal and California in higher numbers than ever before. If you are lucky enough to have a doctor, you usually have to wait months to see them and our urgent care and emergency room facilities are overrun. There are dozens of things we can do to attract doctors to NorCal, but our representatives and the folks at the Capitol fail to make the needed changes.
FIX EDUCATION in NorCal
Four of the five counties in our area rank in the bottom 20% of education rankings in a State that ranks well below the national average. We must overhaul the education system in California, return vocational training to our schools, support school choice and make our teachers and administrators accountable for the success of their students. Low performing schools should receive higher funding percentages.
FIX ROADS AND HIGHWAYS in NorCal
NorCal has some of the worst roads in the State. Our counties and cities are strapped for cash due to unfunded state mandates. A higher percentage of the State Budget must be allocated to fix our failing roads. Highway 99 from Red Bluff to Yuba City should have been made four lanes the entire way years ago. Instead, it claims the lives of countless people every year. Highway 32 should also be expanded to four lanes in Butte and Glenn Counties. Rural roads in the foothills must also be improved before more our family members die.
FIX FIRE PROTECTION and INSURANCE RATES in NorCal
Clearing our forest floors of fuel for fires should be a state priority and is long overdue, but must go hand-in-hand with increasing Fire Protection. We should be talking about increasing the number of firefighters, fire stations, engines, wildland fire vehicles, airplane and helicopter fleets to fight fires before they become disasters.
While we watched the state respond to the wildfires in Los Angeles we became aware of what hasn’t been for our community after every disaster. Our representatives failed to get environment requirements waived for rebuilding like they have already done in Los Angeles. Our representatives have failed to have insurance rates that make sense for rural homeowners which have made their homes safe from future fires.
No matter what happens in our communities or how much we suffer, we continue to be ignored.
